Dear all,
We are pleased to announce applications are open for a CABANA training
workshop to be hosted at LANGEBIO, Cinvestav, in Irapuato, Mexico.
Details can be found below.
The GCRF-funded CABANA project <http://www.cabana.online/> is also
delighted to offer travel fellowships of up to £1125 GBP for researchers
to attend these workshops. The fellowships are open to scientists from
Latin America at any stage of their career. Early-stage researchers and
researchers from minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.

*Overview*
The course will begin by introducing basic R commands and scripts, and
move onto the use of R in genomics. Bioconductor will be covered in the
second half of the course, with the final day focussing on genome
annotation and downloading data using biomaRt, including a webinar on
the Ensembl genome browser.
Topics will be delivered using a mixture of lectures, practical sessions
and open discussions. Practical work during the course will use small,
example data-sets and there will not be scope to analyse personal data.
*Target Audience*
The course is suitable for graduate students and young researchers with
a background in biology who are keen to become proficient
bioinformaticians within the fields of genomics and/or transcriptomics.
We will start with the basics, so students with no prior programming
knowledge are welcome. We have a number of Linux computers that you can
use, and you can bring your own laptops.
Please note this course will be taught in English, however the trainers
are fluent in either Spanish or Portuguese, and can offer language
support where feasible.
